Meaghan Ozaydin

Founder, Village Tutors

Meaghan has been teaching English for over thirty years, including ten years in a Manhattan private school and over fifteen years in Ridgewood. As an English teacher, she has been committed to helping students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and speakers.  She loves nothing more than helping her students find effective ways to navigate challenging text, essays, and tests. 

 

Meaghan received  a BA in English from Boston College and a Masters in Teaching English from Fordham University. As a teacher, she strives to meet her students where they are and motivate them to pursue their learning with confidence, tenacity and enthusiasm.  There is nothing more rewarding to her than helping a student recognize and develop their strengths. She reminds them daily: if you want it, you can achieve it — with hard work and unwavering dedication.  Her role is to support and guide them on their journey, offering knowledge, strategies, and a sense of joy along the way. 

Adam Scevola

Math Tutor, SAT and ACT Prep Instructor

Adam began teaching mathematics at Ridgewood High School right out of college in 2011.  He has taught Algebra 2, Precalculus, Geometry and Calculus.  Adam has been helping students prepare for the SAT and ACT in math for over 13 years.  Adam has well over 10,000 hours of experience working with students both 1 on 1, and in the classroom. 

 

Adam has a BA in Mathematics from the University of Delaware and a Masters in Education from The College of New Jersey.  Adam excels in connecting with students.  For SAT and ACT prep, Adam is an expert in test strategies and using Desmos to maximize scores.

Hatice Friedman

Hatice holds Master's degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and has over 20 years of teaching experience. Throughout her career, she has taught mathematics at the high school, community college, and university levels, helping students develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills.​

Currently a public high school mathematics teacher, Hatice also has extensive experience tutoring students for the SAT and ACT. She is passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen their mathematical foundations, and achieve their academic goals through personalized instruction and proven test-taking strategies.​

Specialties: SAT Math, ACT Math, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

Bobby Hastie

Math Tutor, SAT and ACT Prep Instructor

Bobby is a mathematics educator with a B.S. in Mathematics - Secondary Education and an M.S. in Educational Leadership and Administration from Saint Joseph's University. After beginning his career at Haverford High School and Harriton High School in Pennsylvania, Bobby most recently served as a mathematics teacher at Ridgewood High School. In the upcoming school year, he will be teaching at Northern Valley Demarest.

Bobby has taught SAT Math electives focused on both content mastery and effective test-taking strategies. He also has experience providing SAT Math enrichment through the Ridgewood High School Summer Academy. Overall, Bobby emphasizes accountability, consistency, and resilience in the learning process. With experience teaching courses ranging from Algebra I to AP Calculus, he excels at building rapport with students of all levels and helping them develop the confidence needed to succeed.

Alexandra Gould

Math Tutor, SAT and ACT Prep Instructor

Alexandra has been a math teacher for 17 years in Ridgewood, inspiring students to master the subject while building their confidence and skills. Before her time in Ridgewood, she gained valuable teaching experience in the Tenafly and Ramsey school districts. With a bachelor’s degree in Education from New York University and a master’s degree in Mathematics & Curriculum/Instruction, Alexandra combines her academic expertise with a passion for making math accessible and engaging. Additionally, her certifications in life coaching give her a unique ability to help students overcome challenges and believe in their abilities, whether in the classroom or through 1:1 ACT/SAT prep.

Nancy Brophy

Special Ed Teacher, Executive Functioning

Nancy Brophy is a dedicated special education teacher with more than 24 years of experience in public education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Behavior Analysis. Nancy currently teaches at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Ridgewood and has previously worked in Leonia and Ridgefield Public Schools.

Nancy specializes in executive functioning skills, helping students develop organization, time management, planning, study strategies, and self-advocacy skills. Through her patient, positive, and encouraging approach, she empowers students to become more confident, independent learners who are prepared to meet academic challenges both in and out of the classroom.
